Photos and Memories
by Hilda Taylor
I was Hilda Lindley, Christened at Holy Trinity, and born in Bolton 1925 near Burnden where I lived until joining WRNS in 1944.
Schooling was at St Bartholomew's then Hilden Street Commercial (now Bolton Tech College, I think). We were unable to transfer there as the new Tech was used for RAF personnel during WW2.
Below are photos are of St Bartholomew's then a small one of Hilden Street school friends.

This is the funeral of my grandmother - about 1931, showing cortege leaving her home 286 Manchester Road (opposite Bolton Wanderer's Ground) and arriving Holy Trinity Church. She didn't like motorcars, hence the horses.
This is my wedding inside Holy Trinity church. The altar rails were donated by the family of my grandmother. I wrote once to the Canon of Bolton who told me that the rails are now in a church in Bury.
