Farnworth Infectious Diseases Hospital
The Farnworth Infectious Diseases Hospital (later Farnworth Fever Hospital) opened c.1896 on Carlton Street and served the Farnworth, Little Lever and Little Hulton areas. It closed on 31st December 1924
.
On the 1908 map of Farnworth, the hospital is shown between Farnworth Cemetery and Crompton Lodges where St Peter's Way is now. It was known locally as the "fever hospital" and mainly treated patents with scarlet fever. The hospital looked like a big old house and at one time was the Darley Kennels.
